Before Your First Class

We're so excited to have your little chef join us! Here's everything you need to know before walking through our doors. 🧑‍🍳

  • Please dress your child in comfortable, casual clothing they don't mind getting a little messy — cooking is hands-on and accidents happen! Closed-toe shoes are required in the kitchen at all times. If your child has long hair, please have it tied back before arriving.

  • Little Spoons is a completely nut-free space. If your child brings a snack or lunch, please make sure it contains no nuts or nut-based products. Any food containing nuts will unfortunately need to be set aside and cannot be consumed during class.

  • Outside food is welcome — just keep the nut-free rule in mind! We do snack on things as we cook, so most kids leave satisfied. That said, if you think your child might get hungry during class, feel free to pack something for them. Most families don't find it necessary, but we're totally fine if they need to step aside for a quick bite. 😊

  • We've found that kids thrive when they have a little space to be themselves! Every time parents step out, the kids relax, open up, and start socializing almost instantly. So while your child is busy learning to cook, we encourage you to grab a coffee, run some errands, and enjoy a little you-time. You've earned it! 😄

  • If your child has any dietary restrictions, please let us know ahead of time! Last-minute bookings with dietary needs may not always be accommodated within the class menu, and we may need to reschedule to make sure your child gets the best experience. If the restriction is something serious, please reach out to us directly at hello@littlespoons.ca so we can chat before the class.

  • Yes! Everything your child makes is theirs to take home — if it makes it that far. 😄 At Little Spoons, we believe kids should be proud of what they create, and there's nothing better than showing off a homemade dish to mom or dad. Fair warning though — if the recipe is too delicious, we can't make any promises it'll survive the car ride home. 😅

  • Almost every child walks in a little shy or unsure — and that's completely normal! The fear of the unknown is one of our biggest fears at any age. But here's what we've seen every single time: the moment parents step out, kids start opening up, connecting with each other, and having a blast. We never force participation — we guide and encourage at every child's own pace. And in a worst case scenario, we'll give you a call to come pick up your little one. (Spoiler: we've never had to make that call. 😊)

  • You can find us inside Goodness Me! in Barrie. We're in a beautiful, bright room with a full kitchen — just head past the checkout and you'll find us! 🛒✨
